Helen and would like to extend Christmas Greetings to all SRA members, your families and your friends. It seems the year has once again passed by so quickly but what a year it has been. The AGoM in Queensland was certainly one of the highlights for many of us I’m sure. It is a time where we all come together to catch up with old friends and establish new ones, share ideas and knowledge on ‘all things bike’ but most of all join as one and celebrate SRA as a collective. Whether a meet and greet or a ride, it is always good fun and gives us an opportunity to catch up and enjoy each other’s company.
Christmas for our family starts tonight. We celebrate with my side of the family in the traditional European manner on Christmas Eve. My mother, although now in her late 70’s, begins her cooking days in advance and prepares enough food to feed an army! No one walks away hungry! Their tree is decorated to depict a winter Christmas with snow (cotton balls!) and special lollies are tied on the branches for the kids to find and enjoy. The gifts are then shared at midnight.
For Helen and I, our family arrive early and we start with a champagne and croissant breakfast. I fire up the Webber and get the spit roast going then we sit down to share the gifts. We do a sit down lunch with all the trimmings and true to my mother’s influence, no one leaves hungry or without a ‘doggie bag’ filled with leftover goodies.
Christmas is not only a time to spend with loved ones, it is also a time to remember those who are not with us at the table on Christmas Day. No matter how you spend your day, we hope it is filled with the fun and joy of the Christmas spirit.
If you are on the road, ride/travel safely to your destination. We are looking forward to catching up in the New Year with our SRA family and friends.
Merry Christmas from our family to yours, and best wishes for a wonderful 2016.
