Hi everyone, I decided today to replace the coolent in my Shadow. The owners manual say to dilute coolent 1 : 1. When I went to my local Repco to purchase the coolent he recommended using it straight. So, my questions are, is normal car coolent OK for the shadow and should it be diluted or used straight? I should say his comment was that using it straight can't hurt but using it diluted if it is not meant to be diluted can hurt. (why is everything so complicated)

A passage from the following helpful link: www.motorcyclenews.com/new.../dec22-04-how-to-change-coolantAll bike engines are made from aluminum alloys, so ensure your coolant is specifically for alloy engines. The capacity of the coolant system can vary from bike to bike - check the owners handbook for capacity, but usually 3-4 litres is typical. Note that coolant that is sold as antifreeze needs to be diluted with distilled water. The usual ration is 50:50, but its worth checking the containers instructions. Otherwise coolant comes as a premixed solution ready to pour straight in.

The main thing to keep in mind is the coolant needs to be silicate free A brand I always use is Motul inugel expert ultra 1l bottle about $23, when you do redo your coolant don,t forget to "burp" your cooling system basically once your bike is filled and running leave the radiator cap off and as the bikes engine warms up give the throttle a quick blip say twice a minute and this will effectively burp your cooling system.

And they say that your bike is your baby Just like burping a baby except don't try to put it over your shoulder!!!!! Ride safe
