Hi Riders ;.Some may not know that the vt 750 pipes do fit the VT 400 . Far as i,m aware from 09 models up . Now the only difference is in the actual outlet .The 400 has a smaller tube than the 750 creating more pressure . Some have wanted new aftermarket pipes but cant afford . So Same with me at the time so i had mine done out professionally and it made a stack of difference .Involved taking out the rear baffles but re substituting a bit more for back pressure but with a larger hole again .Pic below . A hole saw mod will take all of this out leaving little if any back pressure . This was measured at 96 dec. Has quite a good rumble . Nearly as good as the V&H Cruzers. Well all most Now iff you can get a set of 750 pipes and put them on your 400 ,just that alone will give you a bit more pulling power and a slight deeper rumble than stock. This is because of the difference at the exhaust end as shown the pics below . Hope this is of some interest This is all 3 different pipes ,stock 400 then stock 750 then my moded 750 Cheers Ray

Thanks Ray, didn't realise there was a difference between the 750 and the 400 pipes I too couldn't afford V and H so I ended up drilling 6 X 10ml holes in the baffles around the central hole, gave it a good sound and no apparent loss of power

G'day again Vik Just read your tag line and going by that you might fit into the group I ride with out of Strathalbyn if that's not too far for you
The group is the GHOST riders and that stands for Grey Haired Old Sport and Tourer riders we have one ride a month
Hopefully some SA members still look in from time to time and may help you with your querie but not I've had no response for over 2 years
I do know of someone here in Aldinga who has a 750 with a 2 in one, sounds awsome and has a nice paint job too but not only is he not on this forum, he doesn't even have the internet I reckon his bike might even be of a similar vintage to yours

G'day Vik Sorry for the late reply, I don't get on the forum much these days after I sold Scarlett (2004 750 Shadow aero) and bought a 2008 Honda ST1300 (I got into longer distance touring which the ST is better set up for). The '04 750 Shadow had the 2 into 1 exhaust. In my case I punched a hole in the exhaust (http://www.shadowriders.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21184). The exhaust sounded better but there was no significant change to the performance. I think the bike was efi so no re-jetting of carburetors required. I have ridden with the Ghost riders (thanks Frank) and they are a good bunch of blokes (& sheilas), although I haven't been out this year due to calendar clashes (plus I'm finding I prefer riding alone or with just a couple of mates more enjoyable than group riding - that'll probably change). Cheers ... Mark
