im lookin up bits and peices all the time. and started lookin up specs ect for my baby.
some sites say its a 4 speed with 42ish hp, other sites no mention of gears but says 51ish hp.
mine has 5 gears, so has the baby shadow. baby has 30ish hp and big shadow has tonnes more than that
where is an honest place for specs? (ive tried wiki)

can you PM me the first 12 digits of your VIN? That will give me the exact year & model. I can then do some checking for you.
Cheers.

The VT600C manual that I've got and the quick 10 mins of research I've done all state that it's supposed to be a 4 speed box 1-N-2-3-4
Cheers.

i know for fact i have 5 gears, and stacks more than 32 hp. prolly near the 51hp the site said but one site says 40?hp with gears and chain drive another says 51hp with 4 gears.
im so confused, maybe when i have the oversized pipes and hypercharger kit (yes and all the other bits) i will have it dynoed then,, ill make my OWN hp
oh simon did ya get my pm re: heat wrap?

Ok, thanks for the VIN mate. 1999 model was a 5 speed box and an output of 39 Hp. More research shows that the VT600C had a 4 speed box in '94 & '95. It was changed to a 5 speed box in '96. Hope that clears it all up for ya mate.

depending on the month of manufacture it probably is a 99 model. They start making next years model in about Aug - Oct. So your date of manufacture may be AUG 1998 but it's a 99 model.
