Well keep a long story short
was working down in Ulladulla today.. 2hrs south of sydney
going through Kiama Bends a sports bike come unstuck right in front me me.. so close i thought i ran over the bloke in the work ute..
i pulled over on the busy Princess HWY to stop traffic and help this bloke out.. telling him to lay still and keep his helmet on.. i was looking around and seen alot of blood.. then i noticed his HAND was completely missing... i tried to talk to him and make him not look at his hand.. found out his was a off duty highway patrol officer 41 yr old...
i feel really sick in the gut and it has scared me for life.. so much so that i am leaving my bike at work and heading home on a 3 hr train ride... parking the bike up for a while

Sorry you had to see & deal with something like that Kingy. When you say the sports bike lost it, was he doing something stupid or was he just unlucky?

not good mate. Just keep in mind that all of life is a risk. We take risks getting out of bed or staying in bed, driving the car or riding the bike. Make sure you talk to your missus about what happened and even someone else if you need to.
All else fails, give me a buzz.

Good work Kingy! Not a pleasant thing to see or help with, but sounds like you did well. If you do feel any need to talk to someone about what you saw, please do so as soon as possible.
It's also a shame he was doing the wrong thing and should've known better...hypocracy unfortunately contributes to the Karma credit plan, but I certainly wouldn't wish what has happened on anyone. Hope he has a good recovery!

Kingy you did real good mate, real good. Its not easy to get in and help, most people cant. you did great.
Mate, its a tough rode but you are strong and will bare it well Outside our place a few years ago, a guy on a Yammi something ran right up the back of corolla at 100 plus the corolla was doing 70. He landed 53m (police report) infront of the moving car, the front wheel imbedded itself in the boot upto the motor of the bike. Pam Craddled the guys head on her lap, where he laid it afterrr we stopped him getting up, for an hour while waiting for Ambo's. Police asked her to stay as she was doing more good just being there and talking to him. Found his shoes over 100m from where he landed and one sock 25m to the left of the impact point never found the other shoe or his pers belongings.
This guy was Army and we both knew him. That was tough. He broke both lower legs smashed an ankle, both lower arms and pelvis (from tank) lost a testicle (from tank) had massive cuts and abbrasions and broken nose and jaw. (helmet saved his life).
Live well my friend just being helps a lot and you will be the better for your actions.
Steve and Pam

Hey Kingy I seen this young girl walk in front of a truck a few years back at the time it was the worst thing I'd seen, even today it as clear as day in my mind but you have to move on, your a young bloke with a new wife and your whole life in front of you so don't dwell on it mate. You did the right thing by helping the bloke so feel good about that

Hey, Sounds like you did great mate, proves youve got good will in you to be the first on scene, alot of people would of kept going waiting for someone else to deal with it, diffusion of responsibility etc, anyway, sent you a pm.
