Hey magneto, remember ya cant get big super powerful bikes as a LAMS bike, the idea being I guess that ya cant get on a bike and kill yaself in your first week of noobness. As far as power goes I dont know the technical stuff but it's been powerful enough for me to ride the highways safely and I reckon she'll be more than enough for me after I get my full licence for a while. I've had to kick her back a gear to over take on the highway, and some of the biger hills I went up the other day the same, but she's certainly powerful enough for me for now and I'm pretty sure for a few years too. I only really looked at a couple of bikes when I was shopping, the shadow, the CB400 and virago .. I chose the shadow cause like you, I like the cruisers, the virago was just not powerful enough for the type of travelling I want to do. Yes I'm pretty sure you will find there's plenty you can do with the VT400 as far as exhust goes look here ... hondashadowriders.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=info&action=display&thread=1135
