I'm in at a cross roads, I know that I 'm unable to buy bars because Ive got peg extensions, but does anyone out there know of anyone who has made thier own for their ride? I sa a Custom Cruising vid that showed a brand of bars that have been welded. Ive made a mockup barr for left side out of water pipe just to see if I can do it with my pipe bender and I feel I can but I'm now leaning towards a welded bar, not as many bends and offset angles in the bends Dawg

Ok, after a couple of drops, one while riding through the twisties on the Black Spur...fortunately not serious and at low speeds, I think it's time to get crash/highway bars fitted. besides, I think they look sexy. I've tried Googling them, but I can't seem to see any specific for the VT400 and wondered if there was much difference with the 750 compatible frames? Does anyone know if these are easy enough to fit myself (as I am definitely not mechanically minded, by the way, so "idiot friendly" is what I'm asking...and I live in a secure apartment block with a "space" for parking...i.e. no garage)? Also, what could I expect to pay for a decent set with rests, and what is a reasonable price to pay for installation if I were to get it done professionally? Basically, can you tell me absolutely everything there is to know about them...not asking a lot, am I?

Hi WG ;Not a bad idea will help save on parts mate. Quick search for you try these . Try contacting Steve(Dawg) he has put some on Pams 400 just recently so he'll be able to give you a heads up on this.. Simon from Badpenny's of course is a good idea as well mate he can help no worries. Also look upwww. Zpower .com here in aussie to see how they compare against o/seas. Most of these are a matter of just bolting up. I think Steve went with the Paladin version they are in 2 bits.I likw the lindby bars myself or the cobras. www.nationalcycle.com/catalogue/other.htmlwww.cruisercustomizing.com/list.cfm?model_id=0&category_ID=56&sblid=Highway_Bars Will keep researching but hope this helps Cheers Ray

WG, found the part number and name of the bars I bought for Pams bike. I got them from CruiserCustomizing.com and atthe moment the $ parity should be good. I would (as I always do) check with the local suppliers and see if they can match. dont forget that postagefrom the states is hi, $86 for my buy this was US$ Dawg BTW the bars were $170.95us in July 10

Sweet, Thanks Ray...Very much appreciated!
As mentioned in the PM I sent: I noticed the Lindby's in one of the other links you gave me, and have to say they shot straight to the top of my preferential list...I really like their "Linbar" best, with the "Multibar" a close second...not a fan of the "Unibar" though. The only thing I wasn't sure about is how low they would sit and if there would be a futher restriction with cornering...I tend to get pretty close to scraping pegs on some of the twisties on our Victorian mountain roads. From the look of the PDF you sent me, the Linbar looks like it has a slightly sharper angle and would be better anyway! Thanks heaps for that, as it's much easier to see the difference with that PDF than any of the other pics I've seen! Now I just have to convince my boss (of the marital kind) that it's worth the expenditure!

Kingy - got crash bars on the new bike - absolutely love them - not set up as highway bars though ........ find I can't fart properly with my feet on the controls mounted on highway bars.
