Like the helmet and goggle glasses, suits the retro bike style.

Not the best photo, but in all honesty, at the time I was thinking more about the cold stiff ache in my left knee after being in the saddle for 3hrs straight. Sofala is one of those old creepy gold-mining towns that I can't help but keep going back to. It's one of the best day rides I know of. Anyone going west via the Great Western Hwy, take a right at Gilmour St in Bathurst & just follow it. You can come back around on Castlereagh.

I like that pic Tex .. i'm quite taken with those kinds of small towns. There's quite a few of them around here but haven't heard of Sofala. I have looked at a road that goes from Orange through Stuart Town and Mumbil but when ever we've been in Bathurst we always just wanna get there and back. You've inspired me, next time we'll take the back road. Or go check out Sofala.

As cliche as it is, I think you find the real Australia off the main arteries & on the back roads. I personally get the most enjoyment out of cruising along at 60-70 & being the only vehicle in sight

Cliche it might be .. but true Tex, I too would prefer to cruise along a back road but have to admit that can be dangerous in itself with the locals doing stupid things cause they're in so much of a hurry to get home to milk the cows or something.

Ta Kon, yeah I love this shot too and yep t'was a pure fluke. It was one of the hottest days of last summer, the day before the fires started at Coonabarabran that destroyed a lot of countryside and property. We'd stopped at a little place called Peak Hill on our way to Parkes and when I put down my helmet I'd forgotten to turn off the GoPro. Wasn't til I got home that I noticed this shot ... I cropped it and edited it in Paintshop with one of the instant 'old photo' effects.
